Our materials are not only a fundamental aspect of the design, but also our identity. We design products to last and so prefer materials with heritage which improve with age. We also only work with suppliers who manufacture in a socially and environmentally responsible way. This approach has led us to work with some of the leading European producers and finishers of cotton, leather and metalware.

Italian Vegetable Tanned Cow Leather
Our leather comes from Tempesti Leather, a member of Pelle al Vegetale – a consortium in Italy featuring over 20 suppliers of vegetable tanned leathers, all based in Tuscany and famous for their special, ancient methods.
Tempesti started making vegetable tanned hand oiled heavy leather for waterproof boots in 1946. The leather is sourced from the best European cattle farms and is tanned with vegetable extracts, which is a long process, but one which does not use any toxic or harmful substances. The hides are processed so the leather retains its natural characteristics. The presence of small marks or slightly uneven colouring are not defects but characteristics of real leather. The tannins, extracted from trunks, fruits, leaves and roots, give the leather its warm colour, soft touch, resistance and wonderful aroma of the woods.
